An Obedient Human is a Happy Human.

Arrrooooo! I have exciting news! The Missus passed her Obedience II class last night at Miss Barb’s Doggie School. I was worried about her for a while. She hasn’t kept up with her training of late. Fortunately, we drew the number to go last out of the five humans testing. Our lucky draw gave her plenty of time to watch.

Some of the tests were very easy. All the Missus had to do was stand still while Miss Barb shook her hand, pet me on the head and brushed my back. Of course, I stayed very still to set a good example to the Missus. She needs lots of cues.

When the walking on a loose lead test came up I really began to worry. Missus forgot to give me my hand signal to stay close so I kept my nose to the ground for about 2 feet. Miss Barb told her I couldn’t do that and asked if we wanted to give up. That is when I used my extra strong doggie e.s.p. to remind Missus of her hand signal. (I couldn’t really tell her verbally in front of EVERYONE or that would have embarrassed the Missus)

She caught on quickly and I pranced along right beside her with my head smartly raised. Miss Barb was so pleased she called me "adorable' which, of course, I am.

When Miss Barb announced that Missus had passed Sir fell back in his seat clutching his chest. I knew just how he felt. I couldn’t believe she passed either!

After we all finished we took our humans to the agility course located at the front of the school. We canines took turns running through the tunnel. Miss Barb ratted me out for peeing in the tunnel two weeks ago but I didn’t mind. It was the Missus’ fault and everybody knows it. (I told her I had to go!)

Now I am about as obedient as a Scotty can get. Next month I start Agility! Arrrrooo!

A puppy experiences a lot of firsts. Recently I learned about snow. Pretty soon I will experience my first Christmas.

The Missus brought home some new toys and put them up in the dining room cabinet. She told Sir they are for Santa to give to me.

A song on the radio said Santa Claus is coming to town.

I have to be extra good if I want my new toys. This Santa character knows even more than the Missus.

According to the song I need to watch out, not pout or cry. I hope that doesn't include howling. He makes a list and checks it twice. He knows I was the one that chewed up Sir's slippers even though I framed the Lad! (I chewed up the slippers on the Lad's bed)

Santa is extra tricky!

He knows when I am sleeping. He knows when I'm awake. He knows if I've been bad or good....

So.....

Aaarrrrrooooooooo! Merry Christmas!

The most wonderful thing happened this week. Something called SNOW fell all over our yard.

I'm pretty sure the Missus didn't want to get me involved but a dog has to go sometime. I did the best Scottish jig I knew to get outside. She finally gave in.

It was the most glorious thing I had ever seen! Crisp, sparkly and cold, I could burrow to new places in a yard I thought I had thoroughly explored.

Sir finally became so tired of unwrapping me from trees that he took my lead off. I was free to go anywhere I wished! I tunneled from one end of the yard to the other. I made patterns, I spread out like an alligator, and I made yellow snow. I love snow!

Today water fell from the sky again and it took my snow away.

I hope it comes back. I think it will.

Remember, life is short – bite hard!
