Chipmunks and rabbits. Bumble bees and butterflies.
My domain has come alive with all sorts of creatures!
Take for instance this morning: I was resting quietly on my perch atop the couch - one eye always open - surveying my domain through the glass wall. What did I spy?
An impudent chipmunk dancing about on MY driveway!
I immediately came to attention, leaned forward and commenced the Dugan Death Stare. Of course, my actions came to the attention to the Missus because, let's face it, who could ignore the Dugan Death Stare??
She muttered something humanly like "Isn't that cute?" and I became aware that she had NO CLUE of how insulting it was to have an impudent chimpunk doing the Macarena on MY driveway.
I had no choice but to go into full SOUND THE ALARM mode. I ran full speed from the top of the couch to the kitchen door and back. Top of the couch to the kitchen door and back. Top of the couch to the kitchen door and back. Okay, I stop for a drink of water and then: Top of the couch to the kitchen door and back.
In the meantime the chipmunk ran under Mum's automobile, likely to sabotage the brakes. The foolish woman was still entranced by the seemingly "cuteness" of this dastardly rodent.
I begged and pleaded to no avail.
I'll be damned if they get me back in that car until the brakes have been checked.
Life's short. Bite hard.
